The fifteenth edition of Lakme Fashion Week came to an end on March 23 in the country’s showbiz capital, Mumbai. Since it was held in tinseltown, all big stars and designers made their presence felt at the prestigious annual event.
The five-day event marked the beginning of many new things. Here are the major attractions of the show:
The First Instagram Fashion Show by Masaba
For the first time in India, the young designer Masaba Gupta showcased its designs to the world by teaming up with Instagram. The fashion gala witnessed the colourful fusion presentation of Masaba titled ‘Sugar Plum.’ The fashion devotees didn’t need to squabble with the bouncers to get in the show, they simply followed the rainbow collection live on Instagram.
Celebs on the Front Row
Almost all renowned celebrities turned up for the Lakme Fashion event and cheered for their favourite designers. Deepika Padukone, Sridevi, Kajol, Kalki Koechlin, Farhan Akhtar and Irrfan Khan hooted for Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Kajol, Jacqueline Fernandez and Huma Qureshi along with Deepika, made sure to show up in support of Manish Malhotra.
Stunning Show Stoppers
Actress Dia Mirza was stunning in a subtle off-white saree and walked the ramp as a showstopper for Anavila Misra. Vaani Kapoor posed for Reliance Footprint. Gorgeous Kareena Kapoor put the stage on fire and was looking spectacular in black and silver piece by Anamika Khanna.
Payal Singhal’s Subtle Collection
You can always rely on Designer Payal Singhal to come out with an alluring collection. In the times when every designer seems to play the ‘edgy’ card, her soothing colour choices manage to gather high praise. Yet again, she worked with lighter shades and flaunted a beautiful collection. Lehenga with golden embellishments, printed skirts with mirror work and short blouses, drapes were a part of Payal Singhal’s collection.
Move Over Masaba, We got Gauri Khan in the House
Bollywood fashion icon and Shah Rukh Khan’s better half, Gauri Khan, walked the stage not to promote any other designer, but to introduce her own fashion collection. Gauri presented a new line of casual and holiday wear in collaboration with the Indian designer Satya Paul. Her debut collection included elegant sarees, nature inspired kaftans and sarongs, and tunics.
