AMC Pleases Fans With the Trailer of its New Series ‘Preacher’

AMC has come out with the trailer of yet another promising TV series called Preacher. After successes like The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, hopes from this show are high. The trailer aired yesterday on AMC during Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead and received a positive response. Take a look at it below to know why.

Post shows like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, AMC is once again attempting to explore themes of morality and right and wrong with a protagonist as powerful as Dominic Cooper’s Preacher. Like The Walking Dead, this show is also an adaptation of a graphic novel series, written by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, and published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint. Some other well-known comic books associated with Vertigo are V for Vendetta and the Sandman series.Preacher

The plot of the show involves mainly Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire, Proinsias Cassidy (Joe Gilgun). It follows the journey of these three characters to find God. The setting is the small Texan town of Annville.

In the comic book series, Custer, the minister of Annville, gets possessed by Genesis, a supernatural being which has both pure evil as well as pure good. This in turn makes Custer potentially the most powerful being in the cosmos, capable of even rivalling God.

Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Caitlin of Breaking Bad fame complete the list of the show’s creators. The 10-episode first season is set to make an appearance in mid-2016. The show arrives via Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios.
