Qwerkywriter : An Old School Typewriter-Style Keyboard Accessory

Are you one of those old souls who are stuck in this new age longing for the vintage feel? Well, the Qwerkywriter, an 84-key keyboard that looks just like a vintage typewriter, might be just the right product for you. A kickstater project, Qwerkywriter is a typewriter-styled keyboard and dock for your Bluetooth-equipped slate or computer that will fulfill all you dreams without compromising your high-tech iPads, smartphones and desktops.

It is a mechanical USB keyboard from game developer Brian Min. This 84-key keyboard sports that old time look mixed with a modern low profile, and since it uses high quality Cherry MX Blue mechanical switches, which enables it to even make the clicky sound when used. The keyboard isn’t as large or heavy as the classic typewriters, however, measuring in at 12.5- x 7.5- x 3.5-inches, and weighing 3lbs. For those who want to use the keyboard with a tablet rather than a computer, it handles slates up to 5/8-inches thick.

The Qwerkywriter is now available for preorder at $289 each. The product is scheduled to start shipping in August 2015, and the people behind it said that the final specs might change before then. The ship date seems to apply to both early backers and general availability.
